The 13 Foot (3.95 m) Aluminum Utility Skiff is a compact, stable, and practical welded aluminum boat designed for fishing, recreation, and general utility use. Progressive V-Bottom Hull

The hull uses a progressive deadrise that increases toward the bow. It starts at 9.5° at the stern, increases to 12° approximately 1.5 m (4′ 11″) forward of the stern, and reaches 20.5° at approximately 3.0 m (9′ 10″) from the stern.

This hull shape provides a practical compromise between good stability at rest and a smoother ride as the bow encounters waves and chop.

Storage and Interior Layout

The design includes seven storage lockers, providing plenty of space for fishing equipment, safety gear, batteries, tools, mooring equipment, and other onboard accessories.

The 65″ x 39 1/8″ (1650 x 994 mm) floor area and 25 9/16″ (65 cm) interior depth create a practical cockpit for up to three persons.

Construction Method

The boat is designed as a fully welded aluminum structure. The 4 mm frames and stringers reinforce the hull, while the 3 mm bottom, side panels, and seats keep the structure practical and efficient.

Accurate fitting, tack welding, dimensional checks, and a controlled welding sequence are recommended to maintain correct hull geometry and minimize heat distortion during fabrication.

The project is suitable for DIY builders with basic to intermediate aluminum fabrication and welding experience. Previous professional boat-building experience is not required, but the builder should be comfortable cutting, fitting, and welding aluminum plate and structural components.

Power and Transom

The skiff is designed for a 20″ (508 mm) long-shaft outboard engine. The transom has a 12° inclination angle, and the recommended engine range is 10–40 HP.

This allows the boat to be equipped with a smaller engine for economical recreational use or a more powerful outboard for heavier loads and improved performance.
