Description

11 Foot (3.2 m) AluTender Aluminum RIB Plans

The 11 Foot (3.2 m) AluTender Aluminum RIB is a compact, lightweight, and practical fully aluminum tender designed for recreation, fishing, transport, and general utility use. Its wide 5′ 11″ (1.80 m) beam provides excellent stability, while the open floor layout offers useful space for passengers and equipment.

Unlike a traditional inflatable RIB, the AluTender uses fully welded aluminum side buoyancy tubes. The boat includes seven independent buoyancy chambers with a total buoyancy capacity of approximately 950 liters (250 gallons), providing additional reserve buoyancy and safety.

Aluminum Buoyancy Tubes

The AluTender uses rigid welded aluminum side buoyancy tubes rather than inflatable tubes. This creates a durable, low-maintenance structure that is resistant to punctures and suitable for demanding everyday use.

The side structure is divided into seven independent buoyancy chambers. Together, they provide approximately 950 liters (250 gallons) of buoyancy volume.

Aluminum Construction

Imperial Version

  • Side buoyancy tubes: 1/8″ aluminum
  • Bottom / floor structure: 5/32″ aluminum

Metric Version

  • Side buoyancy tubes: 3 mm aluminum
  • Bottom / floor structure: 4 mm aluminum

Construction Method

The boat is designed as a fully welded aluminum structure. Its compact dimensions and relatively simple geometry make the individual components easy to handle during cutting, fitting, and welding.

The rigid aluminum buoyancy sections eliminate the need for inflatable tubes and create a strong, practical tender that requires minimal maintenance.

Difficulty Level

Difficulty level: Easy.

The AluTender is designed to be easy to build, even for beginners. Its compact size, straightforward construction, and manageable aluminum components make it a practical first aluminum boat project.

Previous professional boat-building experience is not required, although basic aluminum cutting, fitting, and welding skills are recommended.

Power Options

The boat is designed for an outboard engine up to 8 HP. Its compact size also makes it well suited to modern electric outboard motors for quiet recreational use, fishing, or short-distance transport.
